BEER-
TENDER


STARTING WAGE: $6 per hour plus tips

The beer-tender / server is our front salesperson and is responsible for providing attentive customer service while serving our craft beverages and food to customers in the taprooms. They are also responsible for performing front of house opening and closing duties, completing side work, changing kegs, cooking appetizers, cash and credit card transactions, and working as part of a successful and effective team while following all SOPs and protocols.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Accurately take beer and food orders from customers with a positive and helpful attitude. Providing the customers with service that you would expect while being a patron at another establishment. Assist them with any questions.

Demonstrate understanding of Michigan law as it pertains to the sale of alcohol. Understand laws regarding the sale/consumption of alcohol, which can be obtained by ServSafe or TIPS certifications.

  • Properly rotate and change kegs and supplies as needed.

  • Observation skills are a must to notice new customers,  be attentive to their needs, and notice any situations.

  • Obtain the ability to multi-task for long periods of time.

  • Fill growlers. Fill cans on an Oktober Canner

  • Use our POS system 

  • Count down cash tips.

  • Cleaning before, after, and during each shift.

  • Properly pour beer.

  • Treat all customers and co-workers with courtesy and respect.

  • Maintain a safe work environment according to federal and state regulations.

  • Take initiative to help clean whenever possible.

  • Assist with snow or ice removal on the patio and/or surrounding sidewalks as needed.

  • Use a tablet for inventory and Shield Bearer memberships.

  • Following any other tasks or procedures given by managers.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Bar Back


STARTING WAGE: $10 per hour plus tips

The bar back / kitchen hand is a crucial party of the team. It is a fast pace position that is moving the whole shift. These shifts are typically shorter and are during the busiest times of the week.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Obtain the ability to multi-task for long periods of time.

  • Fill growlers. Fill cans on an Oktober Canner

  • Collect used glasses and dishware and wash them either behind the bar or in the kitchen.

  • Use of a kitchen fryer.

  • Running food orders table tables.

  • Maintaining the restrooms.

  • Following any other tasks or procedures given by managers.

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

GENERAL INFORMATION FOR ALL AVAILABLE POSITIONS:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 21+ years

  • Ability to download HotSchedules and understand its key’s function.

  • Must have a bank account that can accept direct deposit.

  • Ability to take initiative to identify, report, and resolve problems before they escalate. Prior serving experience is preferred as well as the ability to have a flexible schedule to work days, nights, and weekends.

  • Punctuality and the ability to get to work on time and stay until the job is over.

Physical Demands:

  • While working at Brooks Brewing the employees are regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employees are frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms. 

  • The employees must regularly lift and /or move up to 30 pounds.

  • An employee must be able to see well enough to read small print and have peripheral vision to avoid collisions and to notice customers.

  • Brooks Brewing is always 21+

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.

  • The floors are concrete.

  • Wheat, hops, nuts, and other allergens may be present in the Brewhouse.
